"Our first test on the Sky-Watcher Explorer-130 was to check the collimation of the mirrors, which we found were well aligned. This scope has one of the largest mirrors in its price range, which is a great asset because it means it can gather more light...Optically, the quality of the field of view while studying the star Altair was very good using the supplied 25mm eyepiece. The star remained sharp across 80 per cent of the view, with only slight distortion close to the field edges….Taking everything into account, this telescope made observing the night sky enjoyable and relatively hassle free….great views coupled with ease of use."

EVOSTAR-80ED DS-PRO (OTA)
80mm (3.1”) f/600 Fluorite ED Apochromatic Refractor Telescope

The new EVOSTAR DS-PRO Series ED Apochromatic refractors in their stunning Black-Diamond livery, house premium optics of the same quality and performance level as our now legendary Equinox series, making them superb instruments for both imaging and visual observations.

Apochromatic Refractors, due to their unobstructed, text-book like diffraction patterns, produce the sharpest, highest quality optical imaging available, bar-none, aperture for aperture, of any telescope optical system.

These high-end telescopes all feature a doublet objective lens. One element is made from premium Japanese Ohara FPL-53 Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) glass, which virtually eliminates chromatic aberration to deliver true colour reproduction. Top quality Schott glass is utilized for the Crown element.

Each air-to-glass lens surface has exotic anti-reflection metallic coatings applied, to ensure optimum light through-put of approaching 99.5%!!

The proprietary Sky-Watcher “Metallic High-Transmission Coatings” (MHC) are the finest photon anti-rejection coatings in their class.

"“The Skyliner-300P FlexTube AUTO is a delight to use...Now it has added auto-tracking motors to the FlexTube design, taking the Dobsonian on its next great leap forward...The Skyliner’s 1500mm of focal length collapses down to just under a metre thanks to its telescopically extending trusses, making it extremely portable for such a large instrument. We were impressed to find no collimation issues even after repeated setups...With its tracking motors we could take decent images of the Moon and planets, despite the fact that long exposure imaging has never been the domain of the Dobsonian in the past...The 10mm eyepiece revealed a very refined view indeed (of Epsilon Lyrae), clearly splitting the famed star into its four components...Saturn was also a beguiling sight...The deep sky was equally striking...Messier 13, the Great Globular Cluster in Hercules was stunning....Nebulae really benefitted from the Skyliner’s light grasp...Overall, the Skyliner put in a premier performance, but the real delight is its tracking, which keeps objects in view for pretty long periods of time...This gives you all the pleasures of viewing the night sky with a larger telescope without the drawbacks...Thoroughly recommended."

"The hand controller can slew the telescope to almost any position you wish to go to...The telescope is really nippy and yet, despite the size of the OTA it’s moving, it is remarkably quiet...The automatic mode has a unique and patented override, which allows you to manually move the telescope to a position and retain the tracking when you get there. This in practice works incredibly well...This truss tube literally just slides into position and locks down, saving a huge amount of set-up time...For Lunar and planetary imagers this is a fantastic system once collimated, taking quite extreme levels of magnification...Views of the Moon during the Spring Moonwatch week had neighbours and family members enthralled...The tracking kept Saturn in the eyepiece view of a 12mm Plossl for a good hour...Through a 40mm wide-field eyepiece, deep sky objects like M31, M51 and some of spring’s globular clusters were jaw-dropping with impressive detail...All in all this is a great grab and go set-up, with the light grasp of some of my largest telescopes, yet it can be assembled and disassembled with lightning speed, dropping down to a size that can be put in the corner of a room or garage and lifted by just one person."

Review of Skymax-127 OTA

“…Optically, all the lenses are multicoated and the internal baffles had no shiny surfaces that could cause reflections of bright objects…The Focuser was quite smooth with very little image shift…The field was sharp across 80 percent of the view…We were pleased with the quality of the view even when pushing the telescope to higher magnifications…Mars and Saturn bore high magnifications well…The rings of Saturn appeared sharply defined…Turning to the Moon, it was a revelation through the Skymax…This telescope certainly does a good job on the more detailed Solar System objects…In the deep sky, the Skymax performed well on everything to galaxies to nebulae” Sky At Night Magazine

HERITAGE-76
76mm (3") f/300 mini Dobsonian Telescope

“International Year of Astronomy Special Edition”

The Sky-Watcher Heritage-76 has been specially designed to celebrate the International Year of Astronomy (IYA) and the 400th Anniversary of Galileo’s first telescope. This is not only a highly functional precision optical instrument but also a beautiful collector’s piece, desk or shelf ornament, and ideal gift.

The beautiful, luxurious tube graphics depict a richly historical theme. The images have been specially designed to symbolise Galileo and his conflict with the Catholic church. Galileo Galilei’s public championing of Copernicus’ theory of heliocentrism, which was contrary to the geocentric beliefs at the time, eventually led to him being denounced to the Roman Inquisition. He was subsequently tried, suspected of heresy, forced to recant, and spent the rest of his life under house arrest. Of course Galileo, “The father of modern science” and “The father of modern observational astronomy” was proved right in the end.
The telescope tube is also adorned with the words “Galileo 400” and “International Year of Astronomy” as well as key dates in the lifetime of Galileo.

The telescope comes equipped, as standard, with a 5x magnification Finderscope, for the easy location of night sky objects. Also the two supplied eyepieces have been specially upgraded to higher quality Super Modified Achromats to increase your viewing pleasure. The telescope accepts standard 1.25” accessories so the magnification range can easily be extended additional 1.25” eyepieces and/or Barlow lens.

The uncomplicated manually operated Dobsonian alt-azimuth mount makes it a convenient, highly portable, grab-and-go system. The complete telescope & mount comes fully assembled straight out of the box.
Supplied in presentation Giftbox.

O-III Narrowband Filters 1.25” and 2”

The O-III narrowband filter is specially designed for the observation of gas and  planetary nebulae.

It distinguishes different contrasts of the wavelengths of light that pass through, giving ideal conditions for the observation of faint super nova remnants and planetary remnants.

The O-III narrow band-pass filter isolates just the two doubly ionized oxygen lines (496 and 501nm) emitted by diffuse, planetary and extremely faint nebulae. O-III filters work ideally with larger aperture telescopes in the 200mm and  larger range. With larger aperture telescopes, observers will have a better opportunity to identify nebulae objects in the deep sky. It can produce near-photographic views of the Veil, Ring, Dumbbell, Orion, plus many other nebulae under dark skies. These Available in two sizes, threaded to fit either standard 1.25” or 2” astronomical eyepieces. Supplied with storage case.

Precision Computerised GO-TO Mount!!

“Compared to our own 250mm f/5 Newtonian reflector, the extra light gathered by the Explorer-300P was obvious. We got impressive views of a wide range of celestial objects. Galaxies such as M65 & M66 in Leo were wonderful, with strong hints of subtle detail along their spiral discs. The nearby galaxy NGC 3628 also stood out well. Nebulae shone against the background sky. M1, the Crab Nebula, showed varying degrees of mottling and scalloped edges – very satisfying indeed. The Orion Nebula, M42-43, was awash with nebulosity and we found we could easily get lost amongst the detail.. At its centre, the Trapezium group of stars sparkled and, at the highest magnifications , we spotted several of its fainter mag. +10 stars, even though the atmosphere wasn’t as steady as we would have liked for such high-magnification views. Detail Explosion: Late into the night we selected the globular cluster M13 from the hand-controller. As it swung into the field of view it was breathtaking, with swarms of stars looking like bees around a honey pot. The view was so good that we noticed a dark feature, commonly known as the Propeller, superimposed on one side of the cluster. It was easily the best view of the cluster we’ve ever had….For crystal clear views of deep space, this is hard to beat!”
