  • Ade Ashford Says...

    skyhawk newtonian reflectors

"Sky-Watcher's SKYHAWK Newtonians offer the budget-conscious observer a fine balance of optical performance and a stable mount for their price. In particular, the Skyhawk-1145P, with its parabolic optics, has garnered several awards in the astronomical press for its admirable qualities that won't disappoint. This is an ideal 'scope for the Moon, bright planets and brighter deep-sky objects."Ade Ashford BScAde Ashford has tested and reviewed astronomical equipment in a professional capacity for several publications, including Sky & Telescope, Astronomy Now & BBC Sky At Night Magazine.
  • Sir Patrick Moore CBE FRS"I have used a great number of telescopes; some are good, some mediocre and some bad. To me the Sky-Watcher range of instruments are very good indeed, and suited to amateurs of all kinds – and they are not priced out of the market! Excellent value.
    Use them and enjoy them."
Sir Patrick Moore CBE FRS (1923 to 2012)
  • Ade Ashford Says..."Having tested and reviewed a wide range of astronomical telescopes over the last couple of decades, for me there's one manufacturer that's risen above the rest in terms of delivering a coherent range of uncompromising, well-conceived designs, embodying consistently good optics and sensibly engineered mounts at very competitive prices — that's Sky-Watcher!!"Ade Ashford BScAde Ashford has tested and reviewed astronomical equipment in a professional capacity for several publications, including Sky & Telescope, Astronomy Now & BBC Sky At Night Magazine.
Intended for the more serious novice observer, the SKYHAWK-114, with a useful 114mm of light gathering aperture, is a very good all round performer on the Moon, Stars, Bright Planets, Star Clusters, Galaxies and Nebulae. Supplied with the EQ1 equatorial mount, which when polar aligned, will allow you to easily track objects as they move across the night sky via its slow motion control cables.

SKY-WATCHER DELUXE MIRROR COATINGS
Most reflectors today usually have a coat of aluminium as the mirror surface and then an overcoat of silicon monoxide or silicon dioxide to protect it. Silicon dioxide produces a much more durable coat than silicon monoxide but requires specialized equipment to apply it and is therefore more expensive. Protection is needed, because in most reflectors, the mirror is open to the elements and deterioration of the reflective layer reduces the resolution of the telescope.ALL Sky-Watcher reflectors are Multi-Coated with Silicon Dioxide as standard for Optimum Durability and Long Term Performance.
