  • Sir Patrick Moore CBE FRS"The telescope is easy to use, and the controls and slew rate are excellent. A particularly strong point is the sturdiness of the mount for the price. There is no excessive vibration. Most suitable for the beginner."Sir Patrick Moore CBE FRS (1923 to 2012)

    EXPLORER PARABOLIC NEWTONIAN REFLECTORS

"All Sky-Watcher's Explorer f/5 and f/8 Newtonians feature precision parabolic mirrors that provide excellent all-round performance on the night sky. The crisp, high-resolution views and faithful colour rendering delivered by compact tube assemblies, well matched to their mounts, means that both planetary and deep-sky observers will relish them. Eminently suitable for visual and astrophotographic use."Ade Ashford BScAde Ashford has tested and reviewed astronomical equipment in a professional capacity for several publications, including Sky & Telescope, Astronomy Now & BBC Sky At Night Magazine.

    SUPATRAK AUTO TELESCOPES/MOUNTING

"A traditional motorised equatorial telescope mount may not be the easiest thing for the novice to master, but Sky-Watcher's SupaTrak system makes the process of tracking celestial objects as they move across the sky simple and intuitive. Combined with a complementary range of optical tube assemblies at an attractive price, the SupaTrak is a winning formula."Ade Ashford BScAde Ashford has tested and reviewed astronomical equipment in a professional capacity for several publications, including Sky & Telescope, Astronomy Now & BBC Sky At Night Magazine.
  • Sir Patrick Moore CBE FRS"I have used a great number of telescopes; some are good, some mediocre and some bad. To me the Sky-Watcher range of instruments are very good indeed, and suited to amateurs of all kinds – and they are not priced out of the market! Excellent value.
    Use them and enjoy them."
Sir Patrick Moore CBE FRS (1923 to 2012)
  • Ade Ashford Says..."Having tested and reviewed a wide range of astronomical telescopes over the last couple of decades, for me there's one manufacturer that's risen above the rest in terms of delivering a coherent range of uncompromising, well-conceived designs, embodying consistently good optics and sensibly engineered mounts at very competitive prices — that's Sky-Watcher!!"Ade Ashford BScAde Ashford has tested and reviewed astronomical equipment in a professional capacity for several publications, including Sky & Telescope, Astronomy Now & BBC Sky At Night Magazine.

“Its sharp optics and relatively small central obstruction (35mm = 27%) ensure that it delivers bright, diffraction-limited images…. can view a true field of in excess of 2°…. will give you memorable views of the Moon and bright planets…. In short, it’s a great all-rounder in its class….The new SupaTrak™ mount shares more than a passing resemblance to the Celestron SLT, but the somewhat quieter and heavier duty SupaTrak sports a more robust Vixen-style dovetail clamp…. I found that the SupaTrak was capable of following a celestial object at high magnifications for tens of minutes before slowly drifting out of the field of view, which is perfectly adequate for visual use or simple webcam imaging…. If you are looking for an intuitive and far less intimidating user experience than that offered by cheaper GoTo mounts, the SupaTrak is highly recommended as a versatile grab-and-go system.”
Ade Ashford, www.scopetest.com

“I was most impressed by the views revealed by the ‘scope during tests….Despite a phase of nearly 96%, the waxing gibbous Moon revealed a seemingly inexhaustible amount of fine detail”

Astronmony now HOT product

The Explorer-130P OTA has already been heaped with much praise and accolade by the media and astronomy press for its excellent Parabolic optics. It is highly recommended for the beginner or experienced observer wanting excellent results, from a telescope of decent aperture and of manageable proportions. Whether your interest is Deep-Sky, the Moon and Planets, or a combination of both, the Explorer-130P offers excellent all-round diffraction-limited performance.

The new SupaTrak™ Auto-Tracking Alt-Azimuth Mount is a heavier-duty version of the standard Auto-Tracking mount, designed to carry heavier OTA’s. This mounting, with its built-in dual-axis multi-speed Servo motors is ideal for both Astronomical & Terrestrial use. In Astronomical mode, after following the simple set-up procedure, the mount is capable of tracking astronomical objects automatically. The fully motorised mount is convenient, practical, lightweight and easy to set-up and is ideal for both beginners and experienced users alike.

Overall this is a sizzling telescope package offering a truly phenomenal, ground-breaking combination of quality, performance and value for money.

PARABOLIC PRIMARY MIRRORS
Features High Quality Parabolic Primary Mirrors to eliminate spherical aberrations inherent in 'fast' focal lengh reflectors with spherical primary mirrors. The mirrors are parabolized to bring all the light rays to the same focal point to give sharp, constrasty images, which are full of detail.
SKY-WATCHER DELUXE MIRROR COATINGS
Most reflectors today usually have a coat of aluminium as the mirror surface and then an overcoat of silicon monoxide or silicon dioxide to protect it. Silicon dioxide produces a much more durable coat than silicon monoxide but requires specialized equipment to apply it and is therefore more expensive. Protection is needed, because in most reflectors, the mirror is open to the elements and deterioration of the reflective layer reduces the resolution of the telescope.ALL Sky-Watcher reflectors are Multi-Coated with Silicon Dioxide as standard for Optimum Durability and Long Term Performance.
