Equinox-120 PRO OTA
F/900 Fluorite ED Apochromatic Refractor Telescope

Equinox-120 PRO OTA

The Equinox 120 is the star of the Equinox Series. Its generous aperture makes it an ideal observing instrument for solar system and deep space objects alike – and it really shines on double stars. For astrophotography, the Equinox 120 features an f/7.5 focal ratio – more than speedy enough for today’s sensitive CCDs and digital SLR cameras. Plus, it can be coupled with a common SCT focal reducer to achieve even faster speeds.

Its high-power views are stunning. Consider these comments elicited by the Equinox 120 at a recent star party. Saturn was being viewed at 180x: “This is the view of Saturn that I have been waiting all my life to see” Brian D., an amateur astronomer with 30 years of experience. “Come on, you’ve got a picture in there somewhere” Karen, P., first time ever looking in a telescope.

For experienced observers and novices alike, the Equinox 120 delivers remarkable and memorable views. It has the perfect configuration of aperture, focal length and focal ratio to make it a general-purpose telescope that can be used for everything from widefield viewing to high-power planetary imaging. It may be the only telescope you will ever need, and one of the finest you will ever look through in this aperture class.

Schott Glass Used in Selected Models for Crown Element
Equinox 120 SCHOTT benefit from the inclusion of Schott glass being used for the positive front Crown element in the objective. Schott is the recognized world leader in glass utilized for precision optical lens systems, including medical instrumentation, and famous-brand camera lenses. While Schott glass is only used in selected models, all other models utilize top-quality, Grade-A glass from perhaps less famous but, nonetheless, highly respected, high-quality glass manufacturers.

Metallic High-Transmission Lens Coatings
Each air-to-glass lens surface has exotic anti-reflection metallic coatings applied to ensure optimum light through-put of approaching 99.5%. The proprietary Sky-Watcher “Metallic High-Transmission Coatings” (MHC) are the finest photon anti-rejection coatings in their class.

Standard Features:
D = 120 mm,  F = 900, f/7.5.
Razor sharp, colour-free, high contrast optics.
Retractable aluminum dewshield.
Tube rings and dovetail included
Built-in finder scope bracket
Outstanding high-power instrument for lunar and planetary viewing and imaging.

"The Equinox uses the same optics as the well-regarded Sky-Watcher Evostar-120ED PRO …The tube is finished in a classy gloss black, trimmed in silver with an extendable dewshield…The bright star Vega showed no false colour...The planet Jupiter had no colour issues either, although it showed red and blue colour at the top and bottom of its disc due to refraction in the atmosphere. This was nothing to do with the telescope’s optics and once we’d removed this atmospheric refraction with a green filter, Jupiter showed an amazing amount of detail given its low altitude. On a night of near-perfect seeing, Vega, almost overhead, showed the Equinox’s optical correction to be essentially perfect. Our views of the Double Double were the best we have ever seen, with clear separation between each close pair. Views of the Alpine Valley on the 20-day-old Moon were also stunning. We couldn’t have asked for more. With the best focuser of the four, a beautiful tube and essentially flawless optics, we found the it’s performance simply stunning, and all for a price that would have been unbelievable only a few years ago."
